Since the dawn of the nation, Vietnam has witnessed many ups and downs, overcome many upheavals to survive and continue developing on the way of integration and development.

Depending on the political and social context of each period, different Vietnamese dynasties had changed the name of the country and chose different places for the capital city with the desire for a prosperous and stable country. The birth of the national name Viet Nam under the Nguyen Dynasty is an important historical milestone that has been being the pride of the nation.

Changes of the national name and capital were recorded in historical materials in which the clearest evidences are from the woodblocks and imperial records of the Nguyen dynasty, the last monarchy of Vietnam (1802-1945).

The exhibition "Country names and capitals of Vietnam through historical periods (from the beginning to 1945)" is the result of a cooperation program between Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the National Archives Center and the National Archives Center IV, will introduce these precious materials on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2016).
