Bronze Cauldrons in the period of Nguyen Lord
The collection of Bronze Cauldrons in the period of Nguyen Lord was composed of 10 ones with different sizes and weight, cast under the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Tan (1648-1687) to symbolize the power and the lastingness of the Dang Trong (Inner region) government.
Nine Dynastic Urns
Nine Dynastic Urns were cast from 1835 to 1837 under the reign of Minh Mang emperor (1820-1841).
Nine Holy Cannons of the Nguyen dynasty
Khiem Cung Ky stele at Khiem tomb of emperor Tu Duc
Khiem Cung Ky is the stele with the epitaph written by emperor Tu Duc himself (1848-1883) in 1871. Rectangular stele has two sides decorated with the same pattern but different inscriptions. The top is in gong shape carved with “dragon and cloud” motif consisting of dragon face above and twisted tail below, surrounded with clouds and fired balls. Four stele ears are carved with four dragons, in which the two upper ears carved in relief with “flying dragon” while four lower ears carved in relief with “dragon turning its head”. The stele border is embossed with “two dragons flanking the sun”, “flying dragon”, “descending dragon”. The pedestal is in kneeling feet shape and carved elaborately: the outside surface embossed and engraved with dragon, cloud, lion mask and repeated S-shaped pattern. The stele and its pedestal are put on a bi-level thanh stone base with step system.
The gown of the Nguyen emperor in the Giao sacrificial ceremony
Under the monarchical time, the Giao sacrificial ceremony was the most important one of the nation. As the son of Heaven, the emperor of the Nguyen dynasty on behalf of his people offered sacrifices to Heaven to wish the advantageous weather, good harvest, peaceful and properous country and good life for everyone.
The royal throne of the Nguyen emperor
The royal throne of the Nguyen emperor was the highest symbol of monarchial power, also the last throne in the history of Vietnamese dynasties preserved intact to this day.
The Great Bell in Thien Mu pagoda
The Great Bell in Thien Mu pagoda is an important Buddhist utensil cast in 1710 by order of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu (1691-1725) - whose religious name was Hung Long, the 30th generation of the Ts’ao Tung sect to donate to the Buddha. The bell weighs over 2000kg, is 2.5m high, has 1.4m mouth diameter and a well-proportioned shape; The patterns and decorative motifs on the bell body are carved sophisticatedly with the symbolic images of three major thoughts of East Asia including Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism, showing wishes for the advantageous weather, good harvest, peaceful and properous country and good life for everyone.
